Pupils wrote or drew on post-it notes and then placed it on the boat. In the Mini-whiteboard Tent, children could write anything and then wipe it off – just like in our life journey when we miss our way or things go wrong, we can always stop, reflect, trace our ways back and make amends. And in the World Map Tent, children talked about other parts of the world, areas they have visited and or have friends/family. Being far from each other does n

The Radley staff and students showed us how to correctly and carefully handle the animals and all of the children then had a turn holding and looking at them. We especially enjoyed meeting Lucky the lizard who was rescued after being found on the streets of Abingdon. The tortoise turned out to be rather speedy and did several laps of the hall while we looked at the other animals! At the end of the visit Radley Zoo gave us a whole snakeskin which had recently been shed by the cobra and which now has pride of place in Y5.

If there were 50 children in the world across all 7 continents and 50 KitKats, would each child get one KitKat or would the distribution of food be uneven and therefore unfair The children helped work out that, although Asia and Africa have the largest populations, they don't have the greatest share of the food available. The children also decided that they should donate all the KitKats to the Porch as part of our Harvest offerings. Thought provoking!

Thursday 24 March 2022 Children's Mental Health Awareness Week WOW!!! Take a look at the AMAZING and creative balloons the children made following Childrens' Mental Health Awareness Week. They brighten up our school and it is a delight to see them displayed and hanging around. We looked at the different strategies that we can all employ should we not be feeling too great. These may include going for a walk, playing some sport, reading a book, getting out into nature, deep breathing and mindful colouring. On our balloons, we wrote these on the basket so we had these in our own toolkit to keep us secure, just like the basket does. We also listed the different trusted people whom we could talk to during these times. Speaking with someone can really support when we are feeling upset or 'out of sorts'. These people can lift us up when we are feeling down, and so this is why we wrote their names on the balloon.
