Lalya Moran MP visited St Swithun's
We were delighted to welcome our local MP, Layla Moran, in to school last week to learn more about OPAL, My Happy Mind and what we are doing generally to support children's mental wellbeing. She has written to us to say how much she enjoyed the visit and 'was particularly delighted to see the children so engaged and active during lunchtime. It was wonderful to witness the impact of your OPAL approach first-hand, and to hear more about the impressive work you are doing through ‘My Happy Mind’ and your wider focus on supporting pupils’ mental health, wellbeing and resilience.' She found the visit both inspiring and encouraging, and greatly valued the opportunity to speak with pupils, staff and our wellbeing ambassadors and School Councillors all of whom were brilliant when talking to her.
She has asked that we circulate the survey below. As Chair of the Health and Social Care Select Committee, she is currently working with colleagues on the Education Committee on children and young people’s mental health. As part of this work, she is keen to better understand the experiences of young people and families locally. The survey is aimed at young people aged 18 and over, and at parents or guardians of children and young people who have accessed mental health support.
