Woodlands - Thursday 17th October 2024
The sun has shone today! 😀
We’ve had a fabulous final last full day! 😀😀😀
The baked beans on toast for breakie set us up nicely for our day of exciting activities. Groups 1, 3 and 4 had a fabulous time at the Eglwys Faen cave network and it was just as dramatic outside the cave as it was in. The stunning Black Mountain scenery overlooking Crickhowell was was wonderful to survey, and even rainbows smattered the sky in addition to the dappled sunlight. In addition to climbing and squeezing through tight gaps in the cave, we learned about the how the cave was built, the structure of the limestone rocks and how, a few hundred years ago, local people used it as a meeting place and church.
Group 4 had a splashingly marvellous time on the canal, learning new skills and working well together to navigate themselves on rather a lengthy journey. Group 2 enjoyed jungle gymming it on site, and goodness did those children enjoy zipping down the zip wire. They were fabulous on the high wires and were incredibly supportive and encouraging of others.
After a scrummy dinner of pasta bolognese with garlic bread and crudités followed by Viennetta (80's flashback!), we had a treat of the Great Woodlands Talent Show. What a blast we all had with the children entertaining us with dancing, joke telling, singing and magic tricks to name a few - the children truly shone!
Actually, your children have shone this whole week. They have shown resilience, determination and amazing teamwork. They have grown in confidence, further developed independence and (you’ll also be pleased to hear) they are cracking at tidying their rooms! They are all fabulous children, and it has been an privilege to bring them away. We are incredibly proud of them all. We are also very proud of our school staff – they have worked tirelessly to support the children in every capacity this week. A big thank you to Mrs Dowe, Mrs Reaney, Ms Maskell, Mrs Fifeld and Miss Hughes
Some of us are all off up and down mountains tomorrow, and others are caneing on the canal. Following this, we will then be saying our goodbyes to the Woodlands centre and their staff at about 3:00pm and should be back at around 6:30pm (keep an eye on your phones please - we will ping a text if we are earlier or later than expected!) And then, you are in for a real treat this weekend – get ready for some amazing tales of awesome adventures - sliding down canoes, going deep underground in phenomenal caves, going high overground on climbing walls, night hiking under a stunning full moon, zipping through the trees and much, much more. Enjoy every minute!
This is the 2024 Woodlands Crew signing off for the final time. Over n out!
