Woodlands Manor - 9:35pm
All is quiet in the big manor house!  We are all pleased with our excellent days being out and about in the glorious Welsh countryside.  Everyone, children and adults alike, should be very proud of our super efforts, hard work and what we have achieved.  It's been fantastic!

The children slept well last night and after a hearty breakfast of cereals and croissants, we regrouped with our activity leaders to plan for the day ahead.  Group 5 went down underground to Porth Yr Ogof, a huge cave network.  The mouth of the cave was massive and there was the river running through the centre of it.  Everyone scrambled and squeezed through tight nooks in the rock and had a good few hours down there.  It was challenging, but really fun.  On site Groups 1 and 3 embarked on a range of challenges, including tackling the HUGE climbing wall, the varied high ropes course through the treetops and the super zippy zip wire.  These were not easy, and it took a lot of trust, determination and support from others to climb up the wall or navigate the different sections on the high ropes.  Teamwork, again, was essential and children were encouraging and supportive of each other.  Groups 2 and 4 had fun down on the Monmouth and Brecon Canal, using excellent teamwork and newly acquired skills to manouevre the canoes along the water and have a super journey.
Cake was in abundance today, as we enjoyed it with our lunch and also for pudding after a dinner of sausage, mash and veg. Following this, we togged back up for an evening of photograph orienteering.  It was such fun pinging across the site finding clues and identifying these on the map. We also marvelled at the wildlife, and in addition to some night time bugs, lots of bats were zipping away over our heads.
Tomorrow, Groups 1 and 3 are canoeing and Groups 2 and 4 are caving.  Group 5 are heading up a local mountain for a hike and to put into practice our newly developed map skills from our recent Geography lessons.
I can honestly say, the house is silent!  It really didn't take long for the children to settle down to sleep.  It really has been a great day and we are looking forward to what tomorrow has in store.
Good night - over n out for now!
