Year 1 & 2 Hillend Visits!!
Recently the Year 1 and 2 classes visited Hillend Outdoor Centre for day trips (Year 1) and overnight stays (Year 2).
All visits went off very well with the children taking part in some amazing activities such as pond dipping, bug hunting and den building!
Everyone got involved and showed fantastic imaginative thinking and problem solving skills too. To tie in with what they have been learning in Science & Geography, the children went on a walk around the grounds looking for micro habitats and some even created some tiny dens for hedgehogs. We thought about Kennington compared to Hillend in terms of human and physical features and noticed that Hillend has far more physical features than Kennington. In addition, we collected data about our field trip there, creating a pictogram of results of children’s favourite activities there - most of us liked the toasted marshmallows best!
For the Year 2’s staying over, in the evening they had a campfire with some enthusiastic singing, before falling fast asleep as soon as our teachers told us to..........
