St Swithuns CE Primary School

Spirituality

Our school’s definition of spirituality is as follows:

Spirituality at St. Swithun’s is a sense of something bigger than ourselves. It helps us understand our place within the wider community. It is our inspiration to respect and take care of ourselves, each other and our world. It is woven throughout our curriculum and is nurtured through times of reflection and space to ask questions so that we can all grow and flourish together.

We develop our spirituality by:

  • Recognising when something is spiritual and how this affects us individually
  • Deepening our understanding of what spirituality is as we grow through the school (it looks different in each year group)
  • Asking big questions
  • Being creative
  • Developing our sense of awe and wonder at our natural world
