Our aim at St Swithun’s CE Primary School is to create and maintain an environment in which children are able to develop to their full potential, academically, socially and personally. This agreement aims to set out general principles regarding the duties and responsibilities of the school, the parents/carers, the children and the governors. It is intended to be a shared commitment with the overall aim of raising standards and striving to ensure that all children achieve their potential. Together we will: value one another as partners; listen to and support each other to provide the best education for all the children.
AS A SCHOOL, WE WILL: provide high quality teaching and a broad, balanced curriculum which aims to inspire, motivate and meet the needs of all children; provide opportunities for every child to achieve their highest possible level in all areas of the curriculum; value every child as an individual; ensure equal opportunities for all within the community; foster high standards of behaviour, along with Christian and moral values in order to maintain a safe and constructive learning environment; provide homework activities to support school-based learning; provide a clear uniform policy; keep parents/carers informed about school activities and general school matters through regular letters home, newsletters and notices about special events; provide information to parents on their child’s achievement and progress, academically, socially and personally; contact parents/carers about any concerns or problems that affect their child’s learning, behaviour, attendance or punctuality; contact parents if there is a concern over attendance or punctuality; be open and welcoming and offer opportunities for parents and carers to become involved in school life.
AS A PARENT/CARER I WILL: - work with the school to ensure that my child reaches his/her potential academically, personally and socially; support the school’s policies; contact the school to discuss any matters that might affect my child’s progress, happiness or behaviour; make sure that my child attends school regularly and inform the school promptly of the reason for any absence; support the school’s uniform policy and ensure that all clothing is clearly named; support my child with homework and other opportunities for home learning; attend parents/carers’ consultation meetings with school staff to discuss my child’s progress and attainment; make sure that the school has up to date emergency contact numbers and details; walk with my child(ren) to/from school as much as possible; park with consideration for others, if car use is unavoidable; read all correspondence from school and respond promptly as necessary; take holidays outside term time unless the circumstances are exceptional; get to know about my child’s life at school.
AS A PUPIL OF ST SWITHUN’S CE PRIMARY SCHOOL I WILL: get to school regularly and on time; be ready to work and learn, doing my best in work and play; keep myself and others safe; act with courtesy, consideration and respect at all times; think about other people’s feelings before doing or saying anything; take good care of the school equipment and environment; complete my homework to the best of my ability and hand it in on time.
AS GOVERNORS OF ST SWITHUN’S CE PRIMARY SCHOOL WE WILL: work with the Headteacher and the school’s Leadership Team to ensure that the school provides the best possible education for pupils; provide challenge and support for the Headteacher and Leadership Team, drawing on external knowledge and experience; together with the Headteacher and Leadership Team, make decisions on matters such as performance, targets, school policies and school development plans; monitor the impact of policies and oversee the school’s budget and staffing.
